Act 11 Voodoo Child 11
I think I may have gone a bit mad on the details, but I rather enjoyed this chapter for some reason.
So here it is...
We begin with those three enemy blokes from the last chapter introducing themselves. They all have wind related names
and call themselves the "Wind Brothers" blah blah. Ban asks what Himiko's doing playing around with such "small fry" (would
you believe it actually had that word in my dictionary-oh I love my dictionary so very much...). Himiko tells Ban to mind
his own business and asks what they're doing there. Ginji tells her they were commissioned by Akabane. Ban looks annoyed and
demands Akabane tell him what he's doing hanging around with Himiko. Akabane answers that Himiko wanted to come to this place.
Ban looks at him suspiciously and Akabane does that scary smiling thing. Anyway, one of the windy guys asks them to introduce
themselves, as a courtesy to their opponents. Though he finishes his request by calling Ban a "Sea-urchin head". Ban, looking
none too pleased, replies there's no need to be introduced to such idiots (who he calls the "Bulbous nose brothers",
and calls the one who insulted him "Yakisoba head". He he. Well, it made me laugh). "How agressive..." says one of the brothers,
"What should we do, Big brother?" Big brother answers it's good training so everyone gets ready to fight, "Stay on guard,
Himiko," Ban says. Himiko tells Ban not to worry and so the fight begins. The wind brothers disappear then reappear behind
Ban, Ginji and Himiko. Ban and Ginji throw their attacks at them but to nothing. "You can't take hold of the wind" one of
the brothers laughs. "These guys are fast!" Ginji exclaims. "These guys are taking the voodoo drug," Ban tells him. But it's
Himiko who's having the worst day. "They're faster than Ban or Akabane..." she thinks as she tries to dodge them. One of the
brothers then gets a good whack in and Ban shouts "Himiko" and goes to help her but Akabane makes a move to slash Ban, scratching
up his pretty face. Akabane explains that Himiko needs to defeat them in order to be ready for the "Battle Royale". Ban, very
angry, says he knows that but these guys are not fighters, just "voodoo drug junkies". "Even so, she needs the training,"
Akabane replies. If she can't win here then she has no chance in the "Infernal Dome". Akabane goes on, "and this is not the
true power of a Voodoo Child...You should know this from seeing the power of that other Voodoo Child, Kudou Yamato." Ban looks
incensed now but doesn't move. Meanwhile Himiko and Ginji are getting their arses kicked. Akabane says to Ginji, "Please use
that potential of yours to become Raitei". Himiko uses her flame perfume but her opponent easily dodges it and says he thinks
Himiko is not powerful enough to compete in the "Queen's Cup". Now Himiko starts to doubt herself and wonders if she does
indeed have the strength. She considers calling Ban then rejects the idea, saying that Ban "won't like a girl who...likes?...What
am I thinking?" Meanwhile she continues to get her arse kicked. Then Akabane says to her she would have got no points
for such a performance, he tells her if she wishes to become stronger she will. That is "providence". Then goes on about in
the desert a person will become passionate with thirst and will wish for a drop of water. Perhaps then "the blade of hatred"
would even "pierce the throat of a loved one". Himiko then thinks of Ban standing covered in blood over her brother's body
as the wind guys make to attack her. Then we see the enemy blokes getting whupped. "What...was that?" asks an astonished Ginji.
Akabane says "Would you look at that," then explains how Himiko attacked 32 times in a split second, Himiko's natural speed
increased by at least 6 times. It seems this is part of the "potentiality" of the Voodoo Child. This it seems, was the first
awakening of the Voodoo Child in Himiko. But Himiko seems to have lost it and is making ready to kill the wind guys. Fortunately
Ban is there to stop her. "What are you doing, Himiko?" he asks as he grabs her arm. Himiko seems then to snap out of it and
seems as suprised as Ginji at what she has done. Akabane, clapping, tells her well done. Ban gives him a very supsicious
look. Akabane explains some more (and I want to know how the hell he knows all this). In a split second Himiko unconsciously
defeated her opponents with overwhelming speed. Then Akabane goes on to compliment Ban on his speed, being that he must have
been quicker than Himiko to stop her and at the same time knock out her opponent. Ban (very sarcastically) says why thankyou
very much for your praise and concern...but what kind of crap are you saying. "You bastard, what are you scheming!?" Ban says.
Himiko intervenes, saying that this is not the time for them to be squabbling amongst themselves, they have other enemies
left. But then Ginji appears and it seems he finished off the other two. Now this part is wierd. Akabane praises Ginji on
how he too has "improved" and how he's now sure he made the correct decision to hire them for this job. Then Ginji says; "Akabane-san",
Akabane replies "What is it?" Then Ginji starts to say something "I..." before being interruped. What's wierd is how serious
Ginji looks as he's about to speak. Anyway, there is then an announcement over a loud speaker informing everyone that the
last train to the "Infernal Dome" will depart in 5 minutes. "All participants for the "Queen's Cup" should hurry to Lower
Shinjuku Station," we are told. Then I like the next announcement. It warns that this is a special trains for the fighters
and if people board this train, their lives can not be guarenteed. So Akabane says his usual creepy "Shall we go?" Ban argues
they still need another person for their team, but Akabane tells him not to worry and that they will now go to meet up with
the other person. "Also," he says "Please be sure to take care of yourselves and please do not to miss the last train... As
the broadcast just now announced, the preliminaries (as in competitions) have started." Just a final note on his last statement
which is cool because the word Akabane uses for "start" is a homophone to the word for "violent death".
