Act 11 Voodoo Child 17
How Maria's fight ends.
The Beltline fighter is still ranting on about how everyone cries “Help!” when they see him, and he bids
Maria cry it too and we see him stab her. The commentator shouts in surprise at the “skeleton’s” sudden
move and stabbing of Maria Noches. Ban and Ginji cry Maria’s name. It’s all very exciting…turn the page…and
Maria is telling “Help” what a fool he is, did he think she would not see that coming? Was she given the title
“Death Star” for nothing? It seems that she cast a spell of some sort that meant his attack was reflected upon
himself (so we see too big proddy things burst through his chest too). We see Ginji looking happy and Ban like he’s
about to have a heart attack. The annoying commentator returns to inform us all that Maria has reversed the attack and ooh
that had to hurt. But “Help” is laughing. “I see…you used a ‘turning circle’,” he
says. Maria congratulates him on knowing of it and then says that with this spell her speed will match his, her power will
match his and any attacks will also be turned upon the attacker. This, she says, is the fighting power devised by witches.
Ban remembers Akabane’s earlier words about his strength, speed and ability to read a fight being of no use. He wonders
if this is what Maria really wanted him to see. Then it’s back to the commentator who is expressing how risky Maria’s
move is, how Maria is giving everything in the fight and how “Help” is in a bit of a pickle now. But the aforementioned
brute is laughing again and saying how interesting the fight is. The commentator announces that he wonders if those from the
Beltline are really invulnerable. Maria considers how this is true. “This monster is a person who was not born”
she thinks. It seems it is a demon born and controlled of Mugenjou. On the sidelines Ginji is also saying that even if you
kill those from the Beltline and they die, they always rise up again. Ban replies that he (Ginji) killed them though. Ginji
thinks that yes, the other him did… But the commentator is still blabbing on, wondering if “Help” will be
able to break Maria’s “impregnable defence”. And what’s “Help” doing? Well, he’s
still asking Maria to cry out for him as he rips her to pieces. Then, smashing the ground, he destroys Maria’s circle.
“Woah! That was well done, “Help”!” the announcer cries, “By destroying the ground, he broke
the magic circle with a direct attack…He easily destroyed Maria Noches’ impregnable defence!” In the wings,
Saizou comments how he thinks the GetBackers team won’t win so it’ll be easy for Fuuga to win. Juubei and Kazuki
disagree, but Saizou cuts in that they’ll see. Back to the fight at hand and “Help” is being sliced up by
the same pointy things that came out of the ground when he smashed the magic circle before. Everyone looks surprised. The
commentator too. Maria tells is that the circle on the ground was a fake and we now see magic circles covering her body (yes,
somewhere along the line she has managed to lose half her clothing). She goes on that “Help” can not lay one finger
on her. But then “Help” does something completely disgusting. He takes a big bite out of Maria’s shoulder
where one of the circles is. And then that circle appears on Help’s body. Ban and Ginji are somewhat miffed. Help is
commentating on how sweet the “meat of a beautiful woman” tastes and the commentator is explaining that by eating
Maria’s magic circles he is taking her own defence as his own. Maria considers how the wound is neither bleeding, nor
painful. “Th..This ‘logic’…it really is that of the Emperor of the Beltline. Der Kaiser has that power…”
she thinks, and we see the back of a man who looks scarily like Ban with his hair down flat in her thoughts. Ginji shouts
something like how can this be, but Himiko asks him why not. Maria’s opponent is merely responding in a ‘logical’
way each time she acts. And so Himiko goes into a long tirade recounting Maria and Help’s battle and how in the end
it all boils down to Help trying to reduce Maria’s body mass seeing as the defensive magic is connected to her body.
Akabane chips in, “The truth is it’s an easy logical equation.” Ginji concludes that if that is the case
that without feeling it, or bleeding, by devouring Maria she will “fade away”. Ban is not pleased at this prospect
and shouts out to Maria. Maria looks at him and he gives her a most angry look. Help then says, “I’m envious…
that boy calls your name to you…so call my name too…call help!!” Then he makes to attack her. Maria is thinking
though that this is the end, and that Ban has seen with his own eyes now and should look away. She has shown him what she
could. “And so…”she says, then suddenly we see Maria taking a big juicy bite out of Help. Who is a little
surprised by this turn of events. Maria seems to have turned into some sort of flesh-eating maniac all of a sudden. Having
bitten off his arm, Help is getting a bit flustered and screams, “Save me…HELP!” as Maria takes a few more
choice cuts. But then we see Ban and he says his classic “Just one minute” line as he stands before Maria out
on the battlefield. And there we end.
